New Referral Program! May 1, 2008

The Oklahoma County Juvenile Public Defender's office and CARDS have teamed up to address Juvenile/Parent Domestic Violence.  CARDS's mediator will help facilitate communication between guardians/parents/children.  When asked what is the key to limiting arguments in the home, Ms. Dickinson states, "Listening and by limiting your arguments to facts, not opinions.  Facts can be proven and we end up learning something out of it.  Arguing about opinions causes escalation because a lot of energy is involved in trying to change opinions."

Please come back to view the full interview with Ms. Dickinson on Communicating with your child.  To schedule ongoing sessions, please e-mail or call.  All sessions are confidential.

News Flash!!!  May 16, 2008    CARDS has been approved by the President's Volunteer Service Award Team as an Official Certifying Organization for the President's Volunteer Service Award!

Shoplifting: A Problem or Symptom?:

Which is it for you?

You are one of many who are searching for answers right now. Maybe it was an alarming phone call made to your job from a retailer security guard, telling you that your child shoplifted. Maybe you are a youth who was caught shoplifting and you wonder what is in store for you as you walk through the juvenile justice system. Perhaps, you have not been caught and you have come to realize what began as something daring has become a thrill-seeking adventure that you cannot stop.

Community Alliance is the only organization in our state addressing adult and juvenile shoplifting by not just providing a service but to assess the problem.
