Shoplifter Education and Rehabilitation Program

Speakers include retailers, attorneys, offenders (over 21) and members of the CARDS staff. Juvenile offenders must attend sessions, pass a written test on curriculum discussed and complete a community service assignment. Those who repeatedly fail to appear for the program are violated and sent to Court for adjudication. Ages 11 and under attend a 4 hour course. Ages 12-17 attend a 6 hour course. Ages 12-17 repeat offenders referred by the Juvenile Bureaus attend an 8 hour course. On the education level, a free public seminar is held once a month. Our volunteers set up locations within the community at approved sites to distribute packets of information on shoplifting.__________________
